Groundbreaking Album:
In 1982 Venom's second album Black Metal was released. It received
critical acclaim and is still thought of as one of the greatest
metal albums ever recorded and named a genre. Their next two albums
were also very successful.
Lineup Changes:
A series of lineup changes slowed the band's momentum. In 1985
Mantas left, followed by vocalist Cronos in 1987. The next few
albums had several different lineups and weren't as well received
as Venom's earlier work.
